Your skin specialist will provide Dermapen 4™ aftercare instructions as well as an at-home skincare prescription to enhance your overall results and help to speed up recovery time.
Our general recommendations following microneedling procedure are:
- Use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the face for the 48 hours. Gently dry the treated area.
- The day after your procedure, apply a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with SPF of at least 30. A chemical-free sunscreen is highly recommended.
- If possible, try to avoid applying makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
- Do not go swimming for at least 72 hours post-treatment.
- Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, stream rooms or any other heated environment for 24 hours.
- Avoid intentional and direct sunlight. Do not use tanning beds.
- No retinols, retin-A, topical prescriptions 7 days after your procedure.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hoursUse gentle, fragrance-free, alcohol-free and non-comedogenic skincare.
- Use a repair cream, which will be prescribed by your aestethician after the treatment, to heal the skin by soothing and reducing irritation.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medicines for a week after the treatment.

As the first digital device in the world, it combines bluetooth, RFID, dual power and turbo-cut battery systems to offer the fastest, most comfortable microneedling treatment. With a maximum 3mm depth and autocalibration of speed and depth, you can visibly reduce the appearance of atrophic and hypertrophic scars. It is also the only device on the market with a dedicated scar setting and protocols for revision of all scar types including acne scarring.
Microneedling with Dermapen 4™ is the process of creating tiny punctures across the skin to stimulate the production of collagen. To create the punctures small needles are used along the face. This creates a “micro-wound” and triggers the body’s natural healing response, and it begins to develop more elastin and collagen to repair the area. Elastin and collagen production decreases as we age but are essential for youthful, supple skin. By stimulating this, the skin cells will also regenerate, leading to healthier-looking skin.
The idea of creating micro-wounds across the face may seem a little daunting, but you can rest easy knowing Dermapen 4™ is a safe and effective treatment. The needles used are thin and create the smallest punctures for a safer, more effective treatment. This does not harm healthy tissue, unlike similar treatments. Dermapen is safe to use on any skin type, and due to advanced technology, can be used on delicate areas of the face, including around the eyes and lips.
One of the reasons that we use the Dermapen 4™ is that it has been specifically designed to make microneedling as comfortable as possible. This ensures the procedure is relatively painless, although some clients do still experience a small amount of discomfort.
Discontinue use of retinoids and prescription topicals 14 days prior to your treatment. Wait until active acne and/or any possible sunburn has subsided. This treatment cannot be performed on pregnant or breast-feeding patients due to the ingredients in the numbing cream applied before treatment.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure with little downtime. You may experience mild redness, swelling and sensitivity post procedure, this typically subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
