Post-treatment recommendations
- Avoid facial peels and chemical treatments in the month prior to your session.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure (and wear SPF) in the three weeks leading up to your appointment.
- Please come to your appointment with bare skin, which means no makeup or skincare products.
- You won’t need much recovery time after your laser treatment! Most patients are able to go back to work or attend social gatherings immediately following their appointment. You may see some minor swelling or redness for a few days after the procedure. This is totally normal and should resolve on its own! If you experience excessive swelling or redness, or it doesn’t go away after a few days, please contact us for further guidance.

The number of treatments depends on the area and nature of what you’re having treated and may also depend on your skin type. We will discuss how many treatments you can expect for your condition at consultation.
Patients who want to address fine lines and wrinkles or enhance their overall skin quality and minimize surface-level imperfections on the face make great candidates for Candela Nordlys™. However, the light and laser treatments aren’t usually suited for patients who have active acne outbreaks, very dark skin tones that are prone to hyperpigmentation, excessive sagging skin and jowls, very deep wrinkles, or stretch marks on the body. If any of this applies to you, we can work with you to determine a better strategy.
Candela Nordlys™ patients can leave the Iteld Plastic Surgery office right away and resume their normal activities with little or no downtime—depending on what type of treatment they had. Keep in mind that deeper lasers usually require more downtime to ensure the skin heals properly. Swelling, redness, sensitivity, and peeling typically occur anywhere from a few days to a week after a treatment.
